174 Power Global, a US-based subsidiary of Hanhwa Energy, broke ground on construction of the 236 megawatt Midway solar power plant in Pecos County, Texas. The plant will be the largest solar project in Texas, and will sell 100% of the electricity output to Austin Energy, one of the state’s leading consumers of renewable energy. Total costs for the project are expected to be US$260 million, with enough electricity production to power 500,000 homes. In the center of the photo is Hanhwa Energy CEO Ryu Doo-hyung.
