'Rewards for police heads on sticks': Chilling online post calls for the BEHEADING of officers saying 'the people have a right to protect themselves with equal force'

A chilling Facebook post has called for the beheading of officers, even offering a 'reward for police heads on sticks'.

The threatening post was published on Saturday by Australians Filming Police, a verified Facebook page with an audience of 17,558 people.

The post, which said 'the people have a right to protect themselves with equal force', was live for three days before it was taken down by Facebook.

'Is this the answer? Free Facebook live sessions on how to make napalm, mustard gas and 3D print guns, as well as make own ammo?,' the post read.

The confronting post went on to propose a monetary reward for beheading officers.

'Anyone keen on crowdfunding a campaign for us to be able to offer rewards for police officers' heads on sticks?' it read.

'We can use them to show other corrupt overhanded police that it isn't ok.

'Something has to give, it won't be me giving my life that is for sure!'

Daily Mail Australia contacted the page administrators for comment.

The post was removed from the social media site on Tuesday morning.

A Facebook spokeswoman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia it was removed for 'violating our policies around inciting crimes/ promoting violence'. 

She said Facebook was investigating the page's grey badge verification. 

The Australian Federal Police confirmed it was investigating the post after receiving complaints from concerned social media users. 

'The AFP is aware of this post and is considering the content,' it said in a statement sent to Daily Mail Australia.

'We are also aware that the post has been reported to Facebook to assess against their own terms and conditions.' 

The AFP went on to 'encourage all social media users to use their accounts in a safe and respectful way'.
