Overnight rain and flooding has cut off access from the main road at Burns Creek to Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) SDA headquarter and Betikama, East of Honiara.
This particular road is the only access for students, staff and the public to travel from Burns Creek area up to the SDA SIM compound, Solomon Power Lunga Power station and Betikama Adventist College (BAC).
As of this morning, Thursday, the road has been cut off due to rising flood waters.
This had denied most of students and working-class people from reaching their school and work place.
Students of Palm Drive School and Betikama College cannot travel up to the school.

One of the students from Betikama told the Solomon Star they are stranded at the Burns Creek road and cannot make their way to Betikama.
“Upon arriving at Burns Creek, the main road has been covered with flood water.”
Betikama Administration had excused day scholars from attending classes today, Thursday.
The flood had also denied those living up in Betikama, Lunga Power House and SIM area from leaving their homes, it was reported.
A resident at the SIM Compound said, some of the homes and compounds close to road are flooded.
Food gardens are also covered with flood waters. It caused damage to some of the backyard gardens.
Since the start of the week, the country has been experiencing heavy rain linked to a cyclone that hits Vanuatu.
Honiara city received so much rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As a result, most of the rivers, streams and creeks have been flooded.
