President Dina Boluarte highlighted today that Peruvians should feel blessed and proud to have Pope Leo XIV, a pontiff who chose to belong to Peru for love.

“Let us feel blessed and proud to have a Peruvian pope, because he chose to belong to Peru for love, because his affection for Peru. We may be born in a geographical location, but when one later chooses where to belong, they do so because they feel it in their heart,” she stated.

The president said that Peruvians continue to feel the emotion and pride of having a Peruvian pope who, after being elected, recalled his work in Chiclayo, where he left a mark of faith and hope.

“Our Pope Leo XIV, with his moving words, has filled us with faith and hope, which we renew today by handing over the bicentennial school named after San Benito, which has become a symbol of progress and development for the families of Carabayllo,” she said.

President Boluarte said this during the inauguration of the San Benito Bicentennial School, an educational institution that will benefit more than 1,700 students. It was built with an investment of 87 million soles and is the third school to be inaugurated in this area of the capital.

She also specified that this project, built in 12 months, will benefit preschool, primary, and secondary school students, who will have modern and safe spaces to learn and acquire knowledge that, upon completion of their education, will allow them to graduate with certified training to enter the job market.

She also indicated that the improvement of the public infrastructure around the school, as well as the improvement of public roads, is the responsibility of local authorities, with whom the government works in a coordinated manner, as well as regional authorities.

Development as a guiding principle

“We must manage hand in hand with everyone. Our country calls us to work together, even in the face of our differences, because the only guiding principle the country demands is development, and that should unite us,” she asserted.

In this context, she said that, in a country where infrastructure has been often postponed, his government has demonstrated that things can be done efficiently and transparently, and that it will continue to generate projects such as hospitals, roads, bridges, and unblock projects to restore confidence in Peru.

“We must build a Peru without gaps, where the children of Carabayllo have the same opportunities as other districts in Lima, Peru, and, why not, other parts of the world,” she stated.

She also recalled that the government launched an unprecedented investment program in education, which has led to the construction of 144 schools across the country, benefiting more than 107,000 children.

"To those who aspire to govern, we say, come with serious proposals, not with false hopes, don't engage in demagoguery when campaigning, let what you say be done," she emphasized.
