Avenue A’s third annual Blindfolded Boat Race will take place Monday, June 9, at 6:15 p.m. at Norway Pond in Hancock, with a rain date of June 10. The two-person canoe race features one blindfolded paddler and a rear navigator who shouts directions through a loop course that begins and ends at the town beach.

“This event brings our community together for an evening of joy and laughter,” stated Jacqueline Roland, director of teen programs at The Grapevine. “It’s a fun, unforgettable tradition for a great cause.”

More than 20 teams are expected, including returning champions The Foecking Paddlers and first-time racers like The Wise Quackers and Dumpster Fire. Teams compete for “Golden Paddle” awards in categories like Paddle-Off Winner and Best Costume/Boat Décor.

Spectators are welcome at this free, family event. The Hancock Congregational Church will offer food for purchase, and Avenue A will provide baked goods and popcorn by donation.

The race also launches Avenue A’s NH Gives Campaign, running June 10 and 11, with a $20,000 fundraising goal to support programs for teens. Avenue A, a program of The Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center, serves youth ages 11 to 19 from across the ConVal School District and nearby towns.
