1993 - Al-Yousuf Industrial Establishment, a Dh4.5 million facility to manufacture Yamaha boats in Dubai, was inaugurated by Shaikh Hasher Maktoum, Dubai Director of Information. Tadanori Arata, Yamaha Motor Co’s senior managing director, who was present at the ceremony, said the company’s products have been marketed in the UAE for 25 years and record sales were posted in 1992. He added that in boat manufacturing Yamaha now commands 70 per cent of the market share in Japan. Ali Y. H, vice-chairman of Al-Yousuf, group, said that materials used in constructing the boats, their designs and standard qualifications were 100 per cent Japanese. In the first phase, the factory will produce three types of fishing boats and two types of pleasure boats.
